Zambia receives presidential visit ahead of Africa Cup of Nations opener

Zambia prepares for its Africa Cup of Nations opener against Ethiopia in Nelspruit and takes time out to meet their country's leader, President Michael Sata.

 NELSPRUITSOUTH AFRICA (JANUARY 20, 2013) (REUTERS) -  Zambia's president Michael Sata surprised his country's national football team on Sunday (January 20, 2012) when he visited them in NelspruitSouth Africa ahead of their opening match of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

Sata and his wife, Christine Kaseba, shook hands with the players and their coachHerve Renard and wished them well before they open the defense of their title againstEthiopia at the Mbombela Stadium in Monday (January 21).

Zambia also trained ahead of the match on Sunday but the presidential visit had made an impression.

"It's a big surprise but a fantastic surprise for us," Renard said.

"I think he has given a very big boost for us, for the boys. And I can assure you we are ready for our first game tomorrow. We will be ready for the kick off at 1700."

Zambia are in Group B for Africa Cup of Nations alongside Nigeria, Burkiso Faso andEthiopia. The tournament began in Johannesburg on Saturday (January 19) and runs until February 10.
