LONDON, UK (DECEMBER 16, 2013) (WILLIAM HILL VNR) -  Liverpool and Uruguay striker Luis Suarez received the Player of the Year award from the English Football Supporters' Federation in London on Monday (December 16).

Suarez collected the award at a special presentation held at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium following a year in which some remarkable performances from the Uruguayan went up against moments of extreme controversy, most notably when he bit Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic during a league match last April for which Suarez received a ten-match ban.

Since returning to play for Liverpool this season, Suarez has often been outstanding, his 17 goals helping them to second place in the English Premier League after 16 matches, just two points behind Arsenal.

Suarez, though, is fully aware that supporters from around the country have been able to overlook his dark side to present him with this award.

"It's so special, because when the supporters from England recognise my work on the pitch, it's so nice because everybody knows my last year is not really good in the main problem, but after that, I've forgot everything and I've tried my best on the pitch," said Suarez after receiving the award.
