Rebels on the road to Tripoli

Libyan rebels battle their way closer to Tripoli to help fighters who rose up overnight declaring a final showdown with Muammar Gaddafi. Rough Cut (No reporter narration)

LIBYA-ZAWIYAH TO TRIPOLI -  Libyan rebels marched early in the morning onto the Libyan capital Tripoli on Sunday (August 21) from the western city of Zawiyah.

The second in command of the Tripoli brigade, which organised rebels from the capital city said Muammar Gaddafi's forces were pushed back from the their position about 10 km from Zawiyah early in the morning.

Fighting broke out in at least 3 districts of Tripoli on Saturday night. Tajura, Sug al Juma and Fashlun.

Fierce battles were fought to weed out snipers on the road.
