Superstar Lionel Messi says goals comes from "doing things right".

World player of the year Lionel Messi tried to provide some insight into his spectacular success on Monday (March 12).
He admitted his only aim was to do the job right, and let the rest of his game progress acordingly.

"I have always said that I don't play aiming to be the best of all times or the best in this moment, " he said " I play to do things right. In the first place for the team, whether it is Barca or Argentina, then for the people and especially for myself.

The three-times World Player of the Year has taken his tally in his last six matches - five for Barca and one for Argentina - to 16, including a record five-goal haul in Wednesday's 7-1 Champions League victory against Bayer Leverkusen.

" I feel good when things turn out the way I want them to, " he said "That is the way I live my life and the reason I am not afraid of what people say. I am over that, for good and for bad. I only try to do my job right.,"

Messi's run continued on Sunday on Sunday , when he struck twice in a 2-0 win for Barcelona at struggling Racing Santander that maintained Real Madrid's lead at the top of La Liga back at 10 points. He is now only three short of his best haul for a season of 53, achieved last term, and needs five more to equal Cesar Rodriguez's club record of 235 goals at the age of only 24.

With 12 matches left, Real Madrid have 70 points and Spanish, European and world champions Barca are second with 60

"The truth is La Liga looks complicated, " he said . " We are talking about ten points and there are fewer games left now. Real Madrid doesn't miss points. But we have to think about winning all what is left. And if the league gives us a chance and we are able to get a little bit closer it will be a lot better. Today it looks difficult, that is for sure, but we need to win in case what I just said happens and we can get advantage of it," he said.

Asked about Barca coach Pep Guardiola's expected decision to renew his contract with the Catalan club, Messi said it would be very difficult to find a suitable replacement.

"It would be very different without him. It would be difficult to find another coach who can do what he (Guardiola) achieved here and won, " he said ." But apart from what he won it is more about how he has made Barca play. If we have played this way in the last four years it is because he wanted it to be this way by the way he prepares our training session and our matches and the way he wants his team to play."
