Mo Farah's wife gives birth to twin girls as the double Olympic champion prepares for the Diamond League meeting
BIRMINGHAM, ENGLAND, UK (AUGUST 25, 2012) (ITN) -Mo Farah's wife Tania has gave birth to twin girls on Saturday (August 25), a day before Britain's double Olympic champion competes in the two-miles run Diamond League meeting in Birmingham.
Somalia-born Farah won the 5,000 and 10,000 metres at the London Olympics earlier this month. A heavily-pregnant Tania was in the Olympic Stadium alongside daughter Rihanna to see her husband's victories.
"It feels great. I'm glad everything's gone well and what timing, eh," he laughed.
Farah was attending the unveiling of a statue of himself on Saturday ahead of the meet on Sunday (August 26).
The 29-year-old said his life has escalated to new heights since he won the 5,000m and 10,000m gold medals at London 2012.
"It's been exciting. I just can't believe how many people watched it and how many people say well done to you in the street," Farah said.
"You get treated well, in terms of getting gifts and everything. It's just exciting. I'm like a little kid, something comes into the office for me every day and Ricky's like "you've got this, you've got that" I'm like "oh yeah, oh yeah". It's very exciting and just it's unbelievable, I never thought my life would be like this.
"In my career, I've trained hard and the injuries and everything else but I never thought it would be like this and it's just absolutely amazing."
The Diamond League meeting in Birmingham will be a far smaller event in comparison with the London Olympics but Farah is looking forward to competing in front of the home crowd.
"It's still exciting but at the same time, it's what it is and you've just got to go there and do well and there's people up here want to come and see me who especially couldn't see me at the Olympics because everything was sold out so it's giving something back to them," he added.
