The Chilean miners, trapped underground for almost two months, arrive at Manchester airport ahead of a dinner with United legend Bobby Charlton at Old Trafford

MANCHESTER AIRPORT, MANCHESTER, ENGLAND, UNITED KINGDOM (DECEMBER 12, 2010) ITN -
A group of Chilean miners who were trapped in the San Jose mine in northern Chile for over two months arrived in Manchester on Sunday (December 12) ahead of a commemorative dinner at Old Trafford with Manchester United legend Bobby Charlton.

The miners accepted a personal invitation from Charlton to visit the Old Trafford club following their miraculous rescue in October. Charlton himself was raised in a mining village in the North-East of England.

Most of the miners are expected to attend Old Trafford on Monday (December 13) for United's top of the league clash with Arsenal. Prior to the match they will be introduced to Sir Alex Ferguson and his players before taking their seats in the directors' box.

The miners were dramatically rescued in October when, one by one, they were brought back to the surface in a capsule after being trapped for almost two months underground.
