Olympic and world champion sprinter Usain Bolt says he keeps setting himself higher goals and wants to be remembered as one of the greatest sportsmen ever.

LONDON, UK (SEPTEMBER 19, 2013) (REUTERS) -  Usain Bolt said on Thursday (September 19) that he continuously raises his goals and hopes to be remembered after retirement as one of the greatest sportsmen ever.

Speaking after signing copies of his autobiography in London, Bolt said aiming high is what counts.

"Yeah you've got to, you've got to set goals in life, if you want to be the best or you want to strive for, for more you've got to set goals and you've got to set goals that are hard to get if you want to be the best. So for me, I try to set the highest standard I can for myself and that's what keeps me going because I'm a very competitive person and I always try to go for my goals. So you have to set goals continuously, that's what I've learned over the years. I set small goals, then you work your way up and you set harder and harder and harder goals and the higher the goals get the harder it is. So if you continue getting these goals, the greater you will be," said the Olympic and World champion sprinter.

Some of his Jamaican compatriots have tested positive for substance abuse and while Bolt declined to comment pending the outcome of hearings, he said he stayed clean with the help of a trusted team.

"For me it's just, I stick to the same things over the years. I stick to the same vitamins, which I've been taking for seven years. I have a team around me that makes sure I try nothing new. We, we just have to be just vigilant of everything around you, you know, because you don't know if somebody's against you or with you, so I stick to the same people; I stick to the same things. What's not broken you don't change," said Bolt.

The sprinter has already hinted at possible retirement after the 2016 Olympics and said he wanted to be remembered afterwards as one of the best ever sportsmen.

"Just one of the greatest athletes. I watched Muhammad Ali, I watched Michael Johnson, I, I watchedMichael Jordan. All these guys are greats in their sports, but when people talk about sports in general these are the guys they talk about, because they really stand out in their sport. So I want to be among these guys and track and field is now the biggest sport in the world, but if I can set myself a high standard and continue to dominate, then I will be among these guys when I retire. So when people start talking about sports, I will be among these greats," said Bolt.
