Victoria Azarenka of Belarus is presented with the trophy for finishing the year as world number one in the WTA rankings.

ISTANBULTURKEY (OCTOBER 27, 2012) (EUROSPORT / UCOM) - Victoria Azarenka of Belarus was presented with the trophy for finish the year as world number one at a ceremony at the WTA Championships on Saturday (October 27).

The Australian Open champion managed the two wins she needed in the round robin competition to end 2012 in top spot by beating Germany's Angelique Kerber on Wednesday (October 24) and then China's Li Na on Friday (October 26).

Azarenka lost to world number two Maria Sharapova in the semi-finals but that did not detract from the Belarussian's smile when she was presented with the trophy.

She becomes the 11th year-end number one since the WTA began its rankings in 1975 and the fifth this century.
